Key Characteristics: Cools, moistens, directs Lung qi and Heart fire downward, relieves constraint, disperses knotted phlegm-heat.

Gua Lou Pi Certified
Gua Lou Pi (Pericarpium Trichosanthis)
Properties: sweet, cold
Channels: Large Intestine, Lungs, Stomach
Key Characteristics: Cools and transforms phlegm-heat, frees the flow of qi through the chest, disperses constrained knots.
Additional Notes: 12-15g is the most common dosage.
The ‘Certified’ label on this herb means it has shown non-detectable levels of pesticides and heavy metals. Properties: sweet, cold, slippery
Channels: Large Intestine, Lungs, Stomach
Key Characteristics: Moistens both Lungs and Large Intestine, cools and transforms phlegm. Also promotes healing of sores such as breast abscesses. Some use its slippery nature to help the urethra. -
Hai Fu Shi
Hai Fu Shi (Pumice)
Properties: salty, cold
Channels: Lungs
Key Characteristics: Transforms stubborn phlegm, cools phlegm-heat in the Lungs, treats painful urinary dribbling by opening the upper source of fluid metabolism (ie. the Lungs). -
Pang Da Hai
Pang Da Hai (Sterculiae Semen)
Properties: sweet, cold
Channels: Large Intestine, Lungs
Key Characteristics: Gently cools and moistens the throat and Intestines for hoarseness, sore throat and phlegm heat cough.
Additional Notes: Usually taken as a tea, putting one, two or three pieces in a cup and pouring boiling water over them. If giving to your patient as a tea select the herb and dosage in your prescription and then inform us in the ‘special instructions’ tab located at checkout that you would like it bagged separately. -
Qian Hu
Qian Hu (Radix Peucedani)
Properties: bitter, acrid, slightly cold

Key Characteristics: Directs qi downward, helps Lung qi disseminate to expel wind-heat, directs fire downward to dissolve phlegm. -
Tian Zhu Huang
Tian Zhu Huang (Bambusae Concretio Silicea)
Properties: sweet, cold
Channels: Gallbladder, Heart, Liver
Key Characteristics: Stops palpitations, extinguishes wind, cools the Heart, dislodges phlegm and opens the orifices (e.g. in stroke patients blocked by phlegm). Also stops tremors and convulsions in children. -
Zhe Bei Mu (Crushed)
Zhe Bei Mu (Fritillariae thunbergii Bulbus)
Properties: bitter, cold
Channels: Heart, Lungs
Key Characteristics: Cold, drains heat, transforms phlegm-heat, dissipates nodules especially in the neck and breast. Also relieves constraint and resolves toxicity. -
Zhu Ru
Zhu Ru (Bambusae Caulis In Taeniam)
Properties: sweet, slightly cold
Channels: Gallbladder, Lungs, Stomach
Key Characteristics: Cools the Lungs, Stomach and Gallbladder, transforms phlegm-heat, releases constraint and settles the Stomach to stop nausea.
