    Properties: bitter, slightly cold
    Channels: Bladder
    Key Characteristics: Clears damp-heat and facilitates urination.

  • Che Qian Zi


    Che Qian Zi (Semen Plantaginis)
    Properties: sweet, cold, slippery
    Channels: Kidneys, Bladder, Liver, Lungs
    Key Characteristics: Facilitates urination, separates clear and turbid fluids, guides damp-heat downward and out through urination. Also good for clearing heat from the eyes.
    Additional Notes: 10g is usually sufficient, if a higher dosage is desired the herbs tend to get excessively gelatinous. Therefore the patient should be informed that there will be a washable muslin cloth included with their herbs to be used for straining.
    As slippery, be cautious in pregnancies with a history of miscarriage.

  • Deng Xin Cao


    Deng Xin Cao (Medulla Junci)
    Properties: sweet, bland, slightly cold
    Channels: Heart, Lungs, Small Intestine
    Key Characteristics: Clears heat in the heart and Lungs and directs it downward, unblocks fluid pathways, leads heat downward and out through urine. Also gently unblocks flow of qi and blood and can be used for insufficient lactation.
