Gan Cao (Raw) (Radix Glycyrrhizae)
Properties: sweet, neutral
Channels: All 12 (Primarily the Lungs, Heart, Spleen, Stomach)
Key Characteristics: Tonifies Spleen qi, moistens the Lungs, moderates urgency and toxicity, drains fire (especially from the throat). Also reduces spasms and stops pain (especially when used with Bai Shao). Used as an antidote for many toxic substances (especially when combined with Lu Dou and Jin Yin Hua).
Additional Notes: This is the raw form. We offer three forms of Gan Cao.
a) Raw Gan Cao is cooler and more antitoxic.
b) Dry-fried Gan Cao is warmer and more tonifying. Located under Gan Cao (Chao) in the herbs list.
