Huang Qi (Chao) (Radix Astragali)
Properties: sweet, slightly warm
Channels: Lungs, Spleen
Key Characteristics: Raises the yang qi, tonifies Spleen and Lung qi, stops sweating, facilitates urination, promotes discharge of pus, generates flesh.
Additional Notes: This is the Chao form. We dispense three types of Huang Qi:
A) Raw: Which is best for promoting urination and stopping sweating as it goes to the surface of the body. If raw is desired please select Huang Qi (Raw) from the herbs list.
B) Chao Huang Qi: Huang Qi prepared by soaking in water and a bit of rice-wine, which increases its tonification.
C) Mi Zhi Huang Qi: Honey-prepared Huang Qi which induces the Huang Qi to travel internally and specifically tonify and raise the qi of the middle burner. If desired please select Huang Qi (Mi Zhi) from the herbs list.
